Lab grown diamonds return mostly white brilliance while moissanite has a higher refractive index (2.65 vs a diamond's 2.42), which produces more colored fire (those rainbow flashes you see as the ring moves). In a low-profile engagement ring where the stone gets slightly less side-light than a raised setting, that extra fire from moissanite is actually an advantage.
